Match Report

East Antrim Youth League
   Barn Utd    4     Comber    4

Valley
Thursday 1st April 2008

Before the game, Comber would have setled for a draw due to Barns' higher position in the league, But the Comber boys left after the game feeling very disappointed. This was due to going  4 - 0 up with approx 15 mins to go and then letting it slip away.

Comber started very well, competing for every ball with Wilson up front playing great, putting the Barn Defence under Pressure. The same player eventually scored putting Comber one up. Not longer after the lively Walker bagged Combers second after good work on the left wing. Barn had their chances too but Manley and the defence in front of him held firm despite being three of the normal back four down.

All was going well for Comber when the energetic Millar converted a penalty early in the secong half and Walker got his second to put Comber 4 - 0 up. Childs, Millar and Buchanan had worked hard for the lead, but to their credit Barn kept going. They crossed the ball and got their first when the striker poked the ball home. The wheels then definately fell off the wagon for Comber, as two more goals followed quickly. Their fourth was a great goal from the Barn main dangerman, which Manley was unable to hold.

It was difficult to take any positives from the game as everyone concerned was very shocked and disappointed the way the scoreline ended up At least we got a point! Two more plate matches are to follow, and maximum points from both games will be needed.
