Comber Rec v Carnmoney Colts

After a week since our first match of the season the Comber players were more ready for there opponents today Carnmoney Colts.
Carnmoney kicked off and immediately the Comber midfield imposed themselves, Oliver Wilson won the ball out on the right and passed to James Hogg. James turned his marker and played a great ball to Timmy Browne who danced past the Carnmoney defenders and rounded the keeper to score his first of the day and making it 1-0 to Comber.
From the resulting kick off, Calum stole the ball and knocked it over the defence to Robbie Johnston who passed to Oliver Wilson. Oliver shot just wide of the Carnmoney goal with a great effort. A long ball then came forward from Carnmoney which found the Comber defence tested for the first time but the confident Josh Boal cleared the danger.
Comber again took full control of the game with Timmy Larmour finding Robbie Johnston who hit a perfect low drive past the keeper for his first of the day and Combers 2nd. 2-0.
Carnmoney were stunned and before they could draw breath James Hogg had stole the ball and played in Timmy Browne who hammered home his 2nd of the day and Combers 3rd. 3-0.
Yet again from the kick off Comber stole the ball and Alex Robinson and Timmy Browne were both very unlucky to be adjudged offside when through on goal. Josh Boal who was having a great game then found a lovely pass which fell to Robbie who used his power to out fox the defence to shoot high into the net for his 2nd goal and Combers 4th. 4-0.
Carnmoney tried a different tactic this time hitting the ball long from the kick off but the ever alert Cameron Foster played it safe and knocked the ball out for a corner. Matty Davidson gathered the ball safely from the corner and showed great awareness by sending a quick clearance kick up field which James Hogg controlled and passed to Alex whose shot was deflected out for a corner to Comber.
Comber then tried one of there set pieces, Another perfect corner from Calum fell for Timmy Larmour who found himself free in the box and coolly poked home for his 1st goal of the day and Combers 5th. 5-0.
The next few minutes had the Comber line confused when a seemingly harmless ball fell in the Comber box and was cleared only for the Referee to award a penalty to Carnmoney who looked equally shocked, The Carnmoney player hit a low drive to Mattys right side which he saved magnificently. Justice!?.
This then sparked the Comber players back to life and the impressive Aaron Milligan took control of the ball in defence and played a superb pass to Timmy Browne who skipped through the tackles from his own half to round the keeper and blast home his 3rd goal and Combers 6th. 6-0.

Half Time

Comber made a couple of half time changes which saw Aaron Hawthorn and Taylor Long replace James Hogg and Alex Robinson.
Comber kicked off and immediately the pace of the two new front men was clear as they pressed the Carnmoney players and won the ball in the middle of the park, a high ball from Robbie Johnston found Aaron Hawthorn whose shot went close to goal. The ball was kicked out from the goalkeeper but fell to Robbie Johnston. Robbie slipped the ball to Timmy Browne who was waiting to strike and he thumped the the ball over the goalkeeper for his 4th goal and Combers 7th. 7-0.
Carnmoney earned a free kick outside the Comber penalty box, they took a quick free kick but Josh Boal saw the danger and intercepted the ball. A long pass from Calum McCloskey to the on running Oliver Wilson caught Carnmoney napping and Oliver picked his spot and hit a great shot past the keeper for his 1st goal of the day and Combers8th. 8-0.
Once again the referee had the spectators confused when he awarded Carnmoney a second penalty for a foul inside the box, Carnmoney changed the penalty taker this time but Matty again frustrated the opponents with another fine save.( 2 Penalties saved must mean a new Arsenal shirt dad?)
Comber made a further two substitutions bringing off Timmy Larmour and Cameron Foster and bringing on Dean Chadwick and Harry Walker.
Carnmoney again pushed forward and must have thought they were about to score when they were clean through on goal only to see Matty race out of his box and make a superb slide tackle to get his defence out of danger. Carnmoney were pressing hard but new defenders Dean and Harry were not going to let them past with a string of great tackles to keep the opponents out. Comber lost possession and the Carnmoney striker shot high into the Comber goal leaving Matty with no chance to save. 8-1
The game was drawing to a close but Comber had time for one last attack, Josh Boal hit a super strike only to see the goalkeeper get a hand to the ball but he couldn’t hold it and Timmy Browne raced in to thump the ball home for his 5th goal and making the score 9-1.
This was another great performance from all the Comber players and the referee awarded the man of the match jointly to Timmy Browne and Matty Davidson.
