COMBER REC 8 - 0 CARNMONEY COLTS

This was Comber’s first league game after the disappointing Northern Ireland Cup exit. Well, enough of that, let’s concentrate on this match. Comber started well but the boys knew that Carnmoney were up for the game as they were defending for their lives.
Timmy Browne and Josh Boal got a couple of shots in but the new sturdy Carnmoney keeper was up to the task. Comber’s first goal arrived in the 14th minute, Aaron Milligan slipping a pass into midfield to Callum McCloskey who slid a lovely through ball to Josh Boal, and he calmly rounded the keeper for 1- nil! Josh then had 2 more shots saved after good set-ups from Robbie Johnston and Oliver Wilson. Robbie then went through and placed a chance wide but made amends 1 minute later, finishing well after a nice pass from Aaron Milligan. James Hogg then pulled his effort wide from a good position, a chance he usually slips into the corner of the net!

Half-time 2-0

Carnmoney again defended sternly for a long period before Comber got 2 goals in quick succession with the same combination- Robbie Johnston putting Josh Boal away and he put them away for his first ever hat-trick!
Carnmoney were still fighting hard but could not break through the wee Rec’s solid defence of Cameron Foster, Timmy Larmour, Billy Davidson and Aaron Milligan, not to mention the league’s best goalkeeper Matty Davidson!
Four goals up and still the boys were hungry, with Timmy Browne getting a harsh yellow card for an ordinary tackle, our first this year!
Timmy then dominated proceedings scoring after a good cross from a wide position from Callum McCloskey, who then supplied a perfect corner for Timmy to finish and make it six!
Carnmoney had to double their workrate when the Comber subs came on as Harry Walker, Zac Gabbey and Alex Robinson went raiding down the right wing, Jack Savage got stuck into the action on the left and Aaron Hawthorn began by showing good control and vision to set-up Timmy B. for his hat-trick, and he duly obliged. The game finished with Timmy Browne returning the favour to Aaron Hawthorn who showed determination to bundle the ball over the line after Timmy’s curling cross.
Another good win for the under 11’s who had to show patience and determination to breakdown a hard-working Carnmoney team whose goalkeeper and captain were fantastic.
The referee awarded Josh Boal the Man of the Match and well done Joshy, although Timmy Browne, Robbie Johnston and Aaron Milligan were all in with a chance. The management are pleased at the strength and development of the whole squad and with their superb attitude!
