Under 15s Match Report

Comber travelled to Ballysillan wanting to secure another win to maintain their respectable position in the league. Thanks must go the parents who helped put up the netting on the posts( a task which should have been done by the home team). Even though Comber were the better team, early on too many of their players were just going through the motions, hoping the win would happen automatically. The only players who were seen to be making the effort were Wilson, Walker and at times Coulter. Comber soon found themselves one down when the opposing striker was allowed time to shoot from just outside the box. His weak shot somehow was misjudged by Rosbotham and rolled into the net. This setback ignited the Comber boys desire to put more effort into their game. Wilson and Clifford had chances well saved. Ardoyne played the offside rule to perfection with the Comber frontline constantly giving away free kicks. Milligan went on a strong run, dribbling past two or three players before hitting his shot against the bar.
Four changes were made at halftime to help change the game in Combers' favour. The newly introduced Rodney looked lively playing on the right wing, giving Ardoyne defence problems with his strong runs, and excellent crosses but still no joy. On a rare Ardoyne breakaway they got their second. It wasn't going to be Combers' day. Comber still were getting caught offside time after time. With a minute or so remaining Aaron Dunlop scored a late consolation for Comber. Comber started the game too slowly and was definately the worst first half performance of the season so far!
