Comber Rec 2 Doyle 6
Comber again started the game without the dependable Clarke in defence who is recovering from ligament damage. However Aaron Dunlop took his place and like the rest of the team, gave everything in a great battling display against the current league leaders. From the start Comber didn't give their opponents time to settle and played some great football themselves. Doyle found themselves in a game and early on Comber more than held their own. Comber found themselves a goal down when Doyle scored with their first real chance. They then scored two more to make it three nil. Definately not what Comber deserved.
With Milligan and Coulter working hard in midfield, the chances soon came for Comber. Wilson too was having an inspired game and he soon scored to make it 3 - 1. Doyle then made it 4 - 1 with a soft goal, that the defence should have cleared. The goal of the game then came when the pacy Wilson was sent through. He then cleverly lobbed the oncoming keeper to make it 4 - 2. Both Clifford and Kalkerts were doing well in midfield too competing for every ball. The half ended, with the away touchline getting more and more frustrated with their side failing to dominate the game as perhaps they had expected.
Early in the second half Doyle scored their fifth and there was only going to be one winner. Rosbotham made two or three outstanding saves to keep the score respectable, and Walker ended up Man of the Match deservedly, with countless well timed challenges and tackles. Very late on Doyle scored to make it 6 - 2, when again the ball was unable to get cleared.
Credit must go to all the boys for their display against clearly a better side. Keep up the good work, and hopefully we will slowly climb the table!
