Larne Youth 1 Comber 3
After a long break from playing, due to a free week and inclement weather, Comber were keen to resume their hopeful steady climb up the league. With a slightly adjusted back four and midfield, Comber started the brighter and were clearly on top early on. However there were no clear cut chances created until Wilson passed the ball from the right wing to Clifford who scored just inside the far post. There was a slight pause in the game to give Walker a chance to recover after a clash of heads at a corner. The Comber midfield worked hard and kept the Larne attack to only a few advances into the box. The only threat to Comber was the Larne big no9, but the defence in particular Walker were easily able to handle him. The improving Rosbotham produced a fine quick reaction save just before the break to keep Comber in front.
In the second half, the ball broke to the Larne no9 who wasn't closed down, to hit a great strike into the Comber net, which Rosbotham could do nothing about. Comber responded well to this setback, with the speedy Wilson getting more of the ball on the wing. The Larne defence didn't have the pace for Wilson, and it was he who scored Combers second, with his left foot from just outside the box. His second came soon after, when he charged down a kick from the Larne keeper and tapped the ball into an empty net. to make it 3-1. With the game won, Comber brought on the rest of their remaining subs, who saw out the rest of the game.
A deserved victory for Comber who continue with a difficult month with games against Willowbank next week and then Sport and Leisure in the Plate Competition.
