As each game goes by the Comber Team appear to be getting better and this game proved that with hard work and decent ball winning challenges we came away with the first point of the season.

The warm weather and great condition of the pitch enabled both teams to enjoy some fine moments of passing football. The game started fairly evenly, the Comber boys battling well against their bigger opponents. Aaron Dunlop hit a couple of great corners which were unforunate not to give the home side a deserved goal. Then Comber were awarded a dubious free kick on the left just outside the box. Walker then delivered an accurate free kick onto the head of the inform Clifford who smashed it high into the Antrim net. Antrim came more into the game but the Comber defence, in particular Clarke were solid. Rosbotham had little to do, until Antrim got their deserved equaliser, when their player hit a super strike from outside the box to equalise. Just before the break after yet another Comber corner, the ball broke to Rowan who shot just over the bar. Milligan then had another shot but unfortunately it went wide.

The half time team talk told the boys the game was there to win. Halliday and Josh Dunlop then came on to replace Rodney and Carson. Antrim had their moments to score but were unable to breach the home defence. With the Comber midfield challenging well, in particular Dunlop, chances fell to Wilson and then Halliday without success. The game ended with both teams settling for a point.

Even the referee agreed with the Comber staff and awarded the MOM award to Aaron Dunlop, who worked tirelessly in the middle of midfield.

Hopefully due to Comber now having a big squad, players will be patient and understand if they don't get on as a sub, especially when the game is tight, or are not included in the squad at all for a week. I can only bring 5 subs max.

Overall, a fair result from a improving squad. Plenty of hope for the season ahead. Well done.
