Under 15s Match Report

  Barn    0     Comber Rec   7

Comber finally got off to winning ways fro the first time this season against what was a quickly formed Barn side. Last Monday they only had four registered players!! However the win proved to be at a cost as Aaron Dunlop (last weeks MOM) sufered a broken wrist during the game. In what was an unfortunate coincidence an U13's player, Cade McCullough sustained a broken leg against Barn at Greenisland on the same pitch last year!

There was only going to be one winner as Comber went 2-0 up, both goals being scored by Nathan Clifford, the second one his second penalty of the season. Due to Comber giving away silly free kicks, Barns' only chances were long range free kicks which Rosbotham dealt with comfortably. Rodney was very harshly booked due to a challenge on the home keeper, then Dunlop was taken off due to his injury. The energetic Martin replaced him and did a fine job in midfield. Due to a bad eye injury a Barn player had to be taken off but Barn were unable to replace him as they had no substitues.

Early in the second half Clifford notched his hat-trick. That gives him five goals in three games. With the Barn players tiring, Comber had chance after chance to add to their tally. Miligan got the fourth, then Wilson made it five. The ever improving Rodney had a great chance to score also but the Barn keeper saved well. With the points in the bag Comber were able to make all their substitutions, and two of these Moore and Josh Dunlop combined well to make it six. Wilson then made it seven converting one of his many late chances to score his second of the game.

The game ended with Comber deserving their straightforward victory. As each week goes by it gets more and more difficult to pick the team and leave boys out. Todays performance by everyone who played has not made this task any easier, as the squad and competition for places is getting stronger. Best wishes and a speedy recovery to Aaron.

Team: Rosbotham, Clarke, Rowan, Walker, Magee, Wilson, Milliagn, Rodney, Dunlop A, Carson, Clifford.

Subs: Martin, Leeper, Moore, Dunlop J, Kalkerts.

MOM: Clifford

A special word of thanks to Patricia Coulter for taking Aaron to the hospital to meet his mum and for the Jaffa Cakes which are becoming a match essential!!
