Playing the league leaders, Comber knew they were in for a tough game and so it turned out, with both teams passing the ball well on the parkway pitch. Early on Comber had a few chances to break the deadlock with the lively Wilson, and then Clifford coming close. Then in-form Dunlop hit a first time shot straight at the keeper. The opposition had their chances too but the home defence looked solid enough with Walker and Clarke espcially playing well. Rosbotham was also in fine form producing the saves and catches when needed. The breakthrough came just before halftime when Coulter shot his first of the season from just outside the box. The home side definately deserved their lead.

 

Then early in the second half, Wilson was fouled on the right wing just outside the box. Dunlop stepped up and smashed the cross low and hard into the danger zone where Clifford was there to score his seventh of the season. Clifford was then (harshly) judged to be offside as he scored what looked like a perfectly good goal. Both Carson and then Rodney did well in their holding midfield position, protecting the Comber back four. Not long after Dunlop scored with an accurate shot just inside the post to make it 3-1. Rosbotham then produced two outstanding saves to deny Ballyclare a way back into the game. Rowan made a goal line clearance a few minutes later to keep the score 3-1.

 

All in all a super result for Comber, and one which hopefully will increase their confidence for the rest of the season.
