Under 17s Match Report

Comber Rec V Tollymore NIBFA Cup

Comber travelled to Donard Park on Saturday to play Tollymore United in the Northern Ireland Cup. They were unknown opposition so Comber had to be wary from the start. From kick off it was Irwin who was picking up the loose balls and showing the range of passing he possesses to great effect. Laird up front was working hard in cutting down the time the Tollymore defenders had on the ball! It was the side from Comber who were creating most of the chances and it was no surprise when Laird got on the score sheet to put the visiting side ahead. Another flowing move saw Majury run clear of the Tollymore defence to slide the ball under the on rushing ‘keeper. If it wasn’t for glaring misses in the first half (stand up Laird and Childs!!!!) then Comber should have had this game dead and buried at the interval.

Half time 2-0

The second half started, like so many others this season, with Comber being slow out of the blocks! However the defence stood firm under increasing pressure and Tollymore rarely threatened until the last two minutes when Tollymore got the goal their pressure deserved. The Comber players, instead of panicking, made sure that the ball was kept firmly in the Tollymore half and there was much relief when the whistle went for full time! Job Done!
