Under 17s Match Report Comber Rec V Loughside Comber visited top of the table Loughside hoping that a win would keep them in touching distance of the league leaders. Comber started with a changed line up that saw Crooks drop to the bench and new signing Chris Clegg take a centre forward berth. Both teams started brightly with little difference between the two sides. It was Comber who had the first chance, falling to Clegg who blasted his shot high over the crossbar. The first goal went to Loughside, with indecision in the Comber defence, the Loughside player hooked a ball over his head towards goal and it dropped over the despairing Topping who could do nothing to prevent it. Comber continued to press and got a deserved equaliser when Clegg nipped in front of the defender, rounded the keeper and coolly slotted home from 6 yards Half time 1-1 Comber started the second half brightly and deservedly took the lead. Clegg got his second, a carbon copy of his first, to give Comber the lead. Unfortunately this was the end of the Comber scoring, as they were drawn into a long ball game with Loughside. The opposition goal came from a piece of individual brilliance. The left winger hit a thunderbolt shot from 30 yards that crashed off the underside of the bar and in. Slack comber defending from the left allowed Loughside to take the lead from a free kick which should have been cleared and Loughsides’ fourth came from their No 10, who danced round three defenders before slotting home. Final score Loughside 4-2 Comber Rec
