Under 17s Match Report Comber Rec V Bangor Rangers Comber travelled to the Valley Leisure centre to try to get their season back on track against a Bangor Rangers side in the middle of a good run in the league. The comber management made a few changes to the starting line up in order to freshen the team up. The management impressed that a good start is important however Comber were left napping as Bangor scored after 22 seconds, coming from good play down their right and ending with their 6ft 5in centre forward heading home! Comber had to regroup or else it would have been two defeats in a row. Comber started to play their football, with Crooks occupying a central berth and Irwin pushed up front. It was from a long kick form Topping that comber restored parity, with the Bangor ‘keeper misjudging the bounce and Clegg nipping round to tap in from close range. Comber started to impose themselves on the game with Hanna working hard and Majury imposing himself on the game, there was only one team who wanted it more. The defense was holding firm, keeping their shape with the exceptional Brown, keeping tabs on the massive Bangor centre forward. Comber applied more pressure and deservedly got their second before the break. A Pinnons corner to the front post was flicked on and Majury arrived late to hammer home from 6 yards. Half time 2-1 Comber made a tactical change at half time with Laird coming on to replace Pinnons and comber playing with three men up front. Comber started brightly and their football play was good. The third goal came quickly with Laird finishing a well worked Comber move. Laird got his second of the match after a melee in the box, the ball dropped to him and he finished with a cheeky back heel. All subs came on and played exceptionally well, however, it was pleasing to see Jordan Finney return from injury, his comeback can only strengthen the squad. Final whistle 4-1 Man of the match : Lee Brown |
