Rathcoole

The REC PLAYERS made the short trip to billy neill pitches for a home match in todayís early morning kick off ,considering the weather yesterday it was a lovely morning for football with the pitch looking in great condition ., 2 noticeable changes to this weeks starting 11 with sadayu starting from the bench and Benjamin Hamilton starting at left back making his 1st appearance for the u17ís . As it was remembrance weekend both teams took there place in the centre circle for a minutes silence in respect of all those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice .

The referee gets the game underway and straight from the kick off the Rec are on the attack a great through ball from Luke ( the Quiet man ) Johnston lands at feet of Callum McKay who plays the ball through to Cameron the kebab king Haslam who gets the ball down and runs at the rathcoole defence passes 1 ,passes 2 and calmly slots the ball in the net to make it 1-0 to the rec after only 2 minutes play .

What a start for the rec boys , play continues with the rec playing into a strong winters sun ,14 minutes in corner to the Rec Adam bestie Martin swings in a delightful ball from the right and up jumps the beast from the east Alex Hamilton who powers a header past the rathcoole keeper 2-0 to the Rec .

Play continues with the Rec putting the rathcoole defence under relentless pressure 17 minutes in and rathcoole are struggling to clear there lines a clearance out of defence falls to captain Matty Gibson who fires in a shot which is cleared no sign of any sore toes this week for the captain , the ball falls to midfield maestro luke Johnston who fires in an unstoppable shot from 25 yards what a goal 3-0 to the Rec .

Smiles all round the Rec players are certainly enjoying themselves now and playing the type of football we all knew they where capable off . A long kick out by the rathcoole keeper is picked up by there midfielder who cuts right through the middle of the field to fire a shot that the Recís keeper big Tom lappin gets a full hand to but is unable to keep the ball out of the net a poor goal to give away 3-1 to the rec . Play continues with Brandon the rock cromie having a solid game in the centre of defence along side Alex Hamilton with Owen John gill and Benjamin Hamilton making surging runs the defence are determined not to let this one slip .

The rathcoole players are not a happy bunch with constant complaining to the referee who is not impressed at all the Rec players are content to get on with the game and it pays off 28 mins in Adam bestie Martin slips the ball through to Callum ( the doctor) McKay who calmly tucks the ball away to make in 4-1 to the Rec. Rathcoole simply canít cope with the rec with midfield enforcer Jonny Jackson breaking up any attempt the visitors are having of trying to and break through they where becoming more and more frustrated .

Booking 32mins the rathcoole midfielder having just come on as a substitute finds his name in the refs book for a bad tackle on the recís Callum McKay thankfully there no lasting effect on the wee man . The ref blows up to bring a great first half performance from the Rec players to an end .

Half time score comber rec 4 óó rathcoole 1

The 2nd half begins with rathcoole trying to put the Rec under pressure but itís not going there way with midfielders Gibson ,Jackson ,and the impressive Luke Johnston all having a great game itís only a matter of time before the boys from comber score again.

Time for a change with debutant Benjamin Hamilton the first to have a rest a solid 1st match from the young man .

On to the field comes the ever reliable pat Mack bringing a bit more experience into an impressive back four .

15 mins into the 2nd half and itís sadayu time the tattooed forward coming onto the field for the kebab king Cameron Haslam who has had another steady game up front ,time for a rest and juicy kebab .

Sadayu gets the ball down and powers his way through the rathcoole defence and the only way they can deal with him is to bring him down PENALTY to the Rec up steps the beast from the east Hamilton who smashes the ball past the keeper to make it 5-1 to the rec and his 7th goal in six matches a great achievement for the big centre half .

Play continues with the rec on course to better there previous highest score of the season ,the enforcer Jonny Jackson is brought down which results in the Paul scholes look alike having to leave the field with an ankle injury hopefully it turns out to not be a bad one .Onto the pitch in his place comes the running machine that is Ben chambers who himself is suffering from sickness. From the resulting free kick Luke Johnston fires a curling ball in which narrowly misses the goal .

Keeper big Tom lappin plays the ball long out of defence, Gibson picks the ball up in midfield and slides the ball through to Sadayu who rounds the keeper and fires the ball home to make it 6-1 to the Rec a great goal by the tattooed forward. The enforcer Jonny Jackson recovers from his injury and returns to the pitch for the unwell Ben chambers along with mike Mcgrath coming on for the tireless Adam bestie Martin who once again has played a great game .

As we move towards the final minutes the recís keeper big Tom lappin launches the ball upfield Callum McKay controls the ball passes it through to sadayu who shoots and the ball fires past the goalie and into the net to make it 7-1 what a day for the rec boys . Time for a final change Zak Quinn prepares to come on to the pitch however the ref blows up 5 minutes early to bring to an end to the game ,a truly deserved victory for the comber boys against one of the favourites to win the league .
