Crewe Utd

The comber rec players made the trip to hydebank pitches for an early morning 9am kick off for there home match against Crewe Utd the 1st meeting of the two teams .

Conditions for the match where good with the pitch soft but firm .

Following last weeks cup disaster everyone was waiting to see if the players could lift themselves with 6 matches remaining the comber players where sitting with a great chance of winning there league ,time will certainly show if the players have the desire .

Prior to the match captain Matty Gibson had a fitness test on a suspect hamstring thankfully he passed to take his place in the centre of the rec midfield.

Fortunately the same couldnít be said for young Benjamin Hamilton who withdrew before kickoff with a damaged thigh muscle 2weeks in a row the player has had to withdraw hopefully a speedy recovery will follow for the player .

The comber players welcomed Rahoul to the team for his first appearance of the season

The match.

The rec win the toss and the ref blows to get the game under way 4 mins in capt Matty sore toes Gibson slides the ball through to Adam bestie Martin who fires a cross in which the Crewe right back in his attempt to cut the ball out puts it into the back of the net own goal 1-0 to the rec what a start .

Play continues moving from end to end the rec players are all over the place canít string 2 passes together ,poor communication with nobody wanting to take control of the game itís only a matter of time 10 mins in and a throw in finds the Crewe forward unmarked at the back post who calmly puts the ball into the net to make it 1-1 .

The rec coaches are going ballistic on the side lines is this the team sitting up at the top of the table you wouldnít think so . Sadayu fires over the bar from close in ,Crewe break towards the rec defence and fire a cross in which keeper big Tim Larkin (Tom lappin ) pulls off a superb save to keep it level .

Captain Matty Gibson fires in a shot which the Crewe keeper pulls of a great save .

Moving towards half time a change in attitude by the comber players is much needed otherwise they are going to drop points .

Half time . Comber rec 1. V crewe Utd 1

Some truths are delivered by the recs coaching team to the players there 1st half performance was nothing other than an embarrassment and certainly not one that you could have seen coming .

2nd half :

The ref gets the game underway and right away you can see a change in the players attitude a stronger determination to get something out of a match that they should be controlling .

42 min a long throw in form Matty Gibson causes uncertainty in the Crewe defence and the ball falls to tattooed jack / sadayu who sweetly puts the ball away to make it 2-1 to the rec now you could see the belief coming back into there play.

A long kick up field from the Crewe keeper and the ball is fed in from the left which drops lovely to the Crewe midfielder who smashes a shot on the volley that passes big Tom lappin who gets his position all wrong 2-2 .

Time for a change for the rec with Callum McKay coming off for Ben ( linford Christie ) chambers , Cameron Haslam moves up wide left with Ben chambers slotting in at-left back .

56 mins and the switch pays off Cameron the kebab king chases a through ball from sadayu and the kebab king unleashes a fierce shot that flys pass the keeper to make it 3-2 to the rec .

You can see how much that goal means to the rec now the passes are starting to be made , movement of the ball and the communication all what was missing in the 1st half ,corner to the rec the midfield maestro luke Johnston floats over a lovely ball that Brandon the dancer cromie gets his head to but canít direct his header on goal good attempt.

The Crewe defence is under pressure and attempts on goal are mounting a dipping shot from the kebab king Cameron narrowly misses the cross bar .Crewe break out and launch an attack but the beast from the east Alex Hamilton cuts out the ball to take the pressure of the defence . The ball is played forward by Crewe and the big no 9 tryís an over head kick which connects with the head of the recs centre half Hamilton who falls the floor in a lot of pain .

The referee books the forward for dangerous play after some treatment Hamilton gets to his feet and plays on in the Heart of the recs defence.

62mins and a cross in from the kebab king Cameron finds Adam bestie Martin who forces the ball into the net to make it 4-2 to the rec . The recs midfield with Jonny the enforcer Jackson ,Matty sore toes Gibson and Luke the quiet man Johnston are now controlling things and setting up attack after attack .

Time for another change and coming onto the field is rahoul making his debut in place of adam bestie Martin who has had a steady game . 70 mins gone and an upfield pass from the recs keeper big Tom lappin finds the kebab king Cameron who smashes one pass the keeper to make it 5-2 to the rec much deserved based on there 2nd half performance.

Luke Johnston fires in another corner which goes right through everyone with none of the players getting on the end of it a glorious opportunity for another goal ,the enforcer Jackson attacks down the left but is unable to get his cross in .

Final change for the rec coming onto the field comes Zach the mighty Quinn in place of tattooed jack / sadayu who receives a warm round of applause from the side lines sadayu has run his socks off today .

The match is moving into the final minutes and the beast from the east big Alex Hamilton makes a terrific tackle that leaves the Crewe player in a heap on the pitch after a bit of treatment the player is forced to leave the pitch with a neck injury caused by the way he landed on the ground .

The ref blows his whistle to bring the game to an end a great result from the boys from comber rec u17 Ďs after a terrible1st half a great all round team performance in the 2nd half with the game finishing .
