Next season 2008-2009 I will be looking for Comber Rec to be less consistent than we were in the two previous seasons ! That surprises you? Let me explain; 2006-2007 we lost in a cup final and finished 4th in the league. 2007-2008 we lost in a cup final and finished 4th in the league. Next season my aim is to break the mould by winning a cup and winning the league! Comber Rec deserve it and I will earnestly endeavour to be part of the team, on and off the pitch, striving to achieve success.

The article in the 8th May edition of the Newtownards Chronicle (Click here to view) was an excellent summary of the season, critical yet constructive, it has been disappointing yet hugely enjoyable but in the words of Superman “it’s upwards and onwards!”

Finally, congratulations to Jim McCloskey, Gareth Larmour and Ross Hagan who represented the Amateur League. All three had excellent games, well done lads.

Also congratulations to Tim Ritchie on his selection for the under 19’s tip to Italy next week. Well done to Timmy, as well.

In closing for this season it is with a heavy heart that we no longer have Adam Cowdy at our games. Adam, as far as I’m concerned reflected all that is required to be a true supporter of Comber Rec. I like many others will miss Adam immensely.
