At half time in the game against Hollywood I told the players that I thought that the previous 45 minutes that we had played as good as we had produced all season. I thought that we had played at a high tempo, kept good possession and were sound at the back.
The second half was a bit disjointed but we continued to force the game, scored twice and could have had a few more. All that against a team who were buoyant after beating Newington a few days earlier, you could probably imagine my surprise when I heard after the game that some people were not impressed with our performance!!
Another criticism I heard being leveled was that we lacked strength in depth in our first team squad. Bear this in mind; over the last fourteen league games in which we have won twelve, drawn one and lost one we have used 21 players! That does not strike me as being shallow or lacking strength in depth.
The latest player to be added, No.21, is Ian Spence. Ian came in against Hollywood and and hardly put a foot wrong, well done to him.
If your a regular at Park Way I am sure you will have noticed Keith Dougherty missing from his regular spot at right back. Doc got injured against Killyleagh and looks like missing the rest of the season, we are as gutted as he is.
Congratulation to Kevin Monson who was the supporters player of the month for March. Big Kev is as honest and committed as the day is long and since his conversion to the wide right of mid-field has been a revelation. When he was informed of his nomination he thought he was being April fooled - so modest !
