Despite the apprehension expressed before the game regarding the make up of the team, and, I’m not referring to Ryan Oliver’s lipstick and eye shadow.

This was a good performance to overcome a side that came to Park Way prepared and determined to prolong their time in the Irish Cup.

A crucial factor was the early goal scored by Darren Massey. An interesting point about Darren is the last time he started a 1st team game was back in the middle of August in the Intermediate cup tie against Bloomfield. On that occasion he played at left back while on this one he operated as a striker. Both times he produced excellent performances; now that’s versatility!

While it was a good banana skin avoidance display and the team played well I think a special mention for central midfield duo of Reid and Johnston is in order. They both competed for every ball and were instrumental in nullifying any threat from the opposition.

Also well done, Justin Childs! Introduced in the second half he looked comfortable winning the ball and using it simply and effectively. Definitely one for the future.

So while we look forward to who we get in the next round of the Irish Cup we will prepare earnestly for our next game on Saturday 31st October against Blackers Mill. It will be “Tricky” but we will do our best to “Treat” you to another win.
